The 36-year-old was driving his car with his 32-year-old brother on the B145 in the municipality of Pinsdorf towards Regau. For reasons still unknown, he suddenly started to skid. The car crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed at high speed into the oncoming car of a 59-year-old from the St. Pölten-Land district who was traveling with his 58-year-old wife.
The force of the impact caused the right rear tire of the 36-year-old’s car to be torn off the axle. The man drove into a guardrail and a traffic sign before the car came to a stop.
Another car involved in an accident
A driver following behind the couple, an 18-year-old from the Gmunden district, who was driving towards Gmunden with a 20-year-old friend, was unable to stop in time and crashed into the back of the 59-year-old’s car.
All 6 vehicle occupants were injured, some seriously, and were taken to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck after receiving first aid.
The Pinsdorf and Wiesen fire departments were on duty with six vehicles and 30 men. The B145 was completely closed in the area of the accident site for around two hours.
