The Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries is carrying out the registration through the Agricultural Statistics Office.
He General Agricultural Census began on Thursday of last week, it is carried out by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) with the support of National Institute of Statistics (INE) and has the objective of collecting updated information on the agricultural reality of the Uruguay.
Through the Agricultural Statistics Office (DIEA)he MGAP is doing the agricultural census, which is mandatory by law 16,616. Its realization is essential for a better condition when making decisions in the agricultural sector from the government.
The census will last until mid-April and aims to surpass the results of 2022. “In 2022 there was an effort that reached eleven thousand producers, which does not have to stop at this stage of 2024,” explained the director of the INE, Diego Aboal, to Radio Uruguay.
“We must reach forty thousand rural producers, of any sector. Here it is not only livestock, it is all the productive establishments that have more than one hectare and those who have a farm, that is, who have a business, have to respond. We We have joined the MGAP request,” added the leader.
What are the means to carry out the census?
From the portfolio they reported that the questionnaire can be done via the web, on the official website of the INE, as well as through the toll-free number provided by the government: 0800 1908, which is free. The online form will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and takes no more than 20 minutes per farm, while the telephone number is available from Monday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Another option is to carry out the questionnaire at the census points, which will be enabled at the foot-and-mouth vaccine distribution sites. At the established points there will be officials who will carry out the census or they will provide you with basic contact information for the producers to be able to complete the questionnaire. To do this, it is necessary that they have the registration number of the agricultural holding, DICOSE and/or RUT.
