REED. “Platzlwirt is closing again after a year and a half”was the headline in the OÖN on November 3, 2023. A little more than four months later, there is now very good news for the Ried gastronomy scene: The quaint inn on Linzergasse, which is owned by the Ried brewery, is opening again with new innkeepers .
With Martina Gadermayr and her husband Manuel Gadermayr, two gastro professionals are taking over the inn. The opening is scheduled for Sunday, May 5th. The local name: “M2’s Platzl”. The “M2” stands for the two first names of the innkeepers, Martina and Manuel, who have run the beach bar at the Pramet bathing lake for the past two years.
“A beautiful inn”
Martina Gadermayr is a well-known face in the Rieder gastronomy scene; she ran it for several years “Standing eight” at the church square with success. “We thought about it for a long time and looked at several pubs. I’ve always liked the ‘Platzl’, it’s a beautiful inn. I used to like staying with Hans and Barbara Platzl (the Platzlwirt was run by the landlords for 35 years, the two retired in 2017, editor’s note)”says Martina Gadermayr in an interview with OÖNachrichten. Her husband Manuel is a trained chef and worked as a chef in renowned companies in Pongau before working in wholesale and retail.

“My husband wants to cook in a pub again. The preparation time until the beginning of May is relatively short, but we are really looking forward to the opening”says Gadermayr. The cooking is home-style. “For us, the schnitzel is fried in clarified butter, and of course there will also be boiled beef and the Kasnocken, which used to be very popular”says Gadermayr. The “classic menu” The landlady announces that it will be manageable and, depending on the season, there will be different culinary focuses such as asparagus, wild garlic or game weeks. The guest garden is set up on the lower main square and is open from Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The kitchen is open all day, with a smaller menu in the afternoon, and homemade cakes and desserts are also offered. “Friday and Saturday are closed, but we will open for larger reservations or for celebrations”says Gadermayr.
Brewery boss pleased
Christian Aigner, the managing director of the Rieder Brewery, which owns the traditional inn, is pleased. “We are pleased that we found two professionals from the catering industry. I am sure that not only the brewery but everyone in Ried will be happy about the reopening. It is certainly also very positive that it will be open on Sunday. The municipality of Pramet is now looking for a successor for the beach bar and kiosk at the swimming lake. Interested parties can contact the municipal office.
