With very personal words, Josef Bröderbauer, as district fire brigade commander of Rohrbach and as district representative in the state fire brigade management, said goodbye to his troops as an active official at his last district meeting. Tomorrow, Rohrbach’s section commander Andreas Pachner and the previous fire department commander from Aigen Thomas Stockinger will stand for election. The 59 district commanders and the four section commanders are eligible to vote.

The year 2023 was highlighted in the annual review. This was characterized by several demanding missions. Three of them were examined in more detail at the district meeting: for example, the challenging fire in the densely built-up area of Ulrichsberg, the serious traffic accident on Landshaager Straße, which claimed several victims, and the rescue of people from the Danube during the night.

Honor where honor is due

For his more than eleven years of service as district fire brigade commander for the Rohrbach district and for his role in shaping the fire service as a member of the state fire brigade management in Upper Austria as a district representative for the Mühlviertel in the last ten years, state fire brigade councilor Sepp Bröderbauer received the fire brigade award from fire brigade president Robert Mayer. Cross of Merit of the State of Upper Austria, first level. For his cooperation across national borders, Bröderbauer was awarded the Medal for International Cooperation by his Bavarian comrades.

In total, the fire brigade in the Rohrbach district worked more than 460,000 hours for the general public last year, including almost 37,000 hours during operations. If the public sector had to pay for this time, the sum would be around 15 million euros. On average, Rohrbach’s defense team handled almost six missions per day.

The proportion of female members is also steadily increasing, which is already eleven percent of a total of 6,732 members in the Rohrbach district.
