The new election date for Holzhausen has been set: After the unexpected death of Andreas Ströbitzer (VP), the community’s citizens will be called to the polls on June 23rd to determine his successor. Two candidates have already been chosen: Andrea Hubmer is running for the VP, Tino Fraccaroli for the FP.
Hubmer has been a local council member since 2015 and has headed the VP parliamentary group for five years. “I didn’t have to think long about whether I wanted to run. Commitment to the community is very important to me,” says the lawyer, who works for the state of Upper Austria.
It is important to the FP to give the population a choice, says Fraccaroli: “It is clear to us that it will probably be Ms. Hubmer. But we are also using this opportunity to position ourselves in terms of content.”
SP candidacy still possible
The SP is still discussing a candidacy, says Mario Eggetsberger: “We will decide in the coming weeks. If we don’t nominate anyone, we will support Ms. Hubmer,” says the parliamentary group chairman, who was his party’s mayoral candidate in the 2021 election.
Kadriye Aichner, the Green Party’s only representative, is pleased with Hubmer’s candidacy: “We are now in the second term together on the local council and work well together. I am convinced that she can work for Holzhausen across party lines.”
Given the majority in the local council – the VP holds the absolute majority with seven out of 13 mandates – Hubmer has the best chance of becoming mayor. Her predecessor won 71 percent of the votes in 2021.
The candidate says she wants to continue the good non-partisan cooperation in Holzhausen, which representatives of the other parties also report on: “Good solutions for the community are always the top priority in the debate.” There is also great agreement on the projects that are currently important for the community: the cycle path to Marchtrenk is still a big topic. Before his death, Andreas Ströbitzer had sought to speak to the landowners again after an expropriation procedure had failed.
“We are now getting a section towards Eferding, but the connection to Marchtrenk is still a concern for us,” says Hubmer.
In addition, the influx into the new settlement areas is a concern for community politics. “We want to approach the new residents and welcome them into community life, which works very well in Holzhausen,” says Hubmer.
