The new Lebenshilfe workshop in Neustadt will be ready for occupancy at the beginning of April. Then the residents with intellectual disabilities, who are currently being cared for in alternative accommodation in Thalheim, can move to their new workplace on Gabelsbergerstrasse. They recently got their first impression during a local inspection.
From June, the heart of the new workshop will be a shop with products from the Lebenshilfe workshops in Wels with a small café with eight seats. “The café is intended to be a meeting place where people without any connection to people with disabilities can meet our employees,” says workshop manager Peter Martin. Four to six additional jobs will be created. The space in front of the café can be used as a “mini garden” for enjoying coffee outdoors. In addition to the shop with a café and the work rooms for the ceramics group and the completion of commissioned work for companies, the new workshop will have a garden, therapy rooms and a care area. This means that people with greater need for support can also work in the workshop.
