This morning there was a fatal accident at Wacker during excavation work carried out by a partner company. It is not yet known exactly how the accident happened in the northwest of the plant. The fact is: A 57-year-old employee of a partner company was so seriously injured that all rescue measures initiated by the Wacker fire department, the company’s own rescue service and an external rescue service were in vain. The man died at the scene of the accident. The police have started an investigation.
“There is deep consternation at the plant. Our condolences go out in particular to the relatives of the deceased,” the company wrote in a press release. Two of his colleagues witnessed the accident and are receiving psychological care.
