The starting signal for the redesign of the Dynatrace headquarters at the 25 tower near the Mühlkreisautobahn (A7) has been given: the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion project took place today. The heart of this is a seven-story campus with balconies and terraces that will be added to the existing building. Furthermore, the construction of a four-story parking garage plus three floors as an expansion reserve and publicly accessible green spaces is planned (parallel to the A7).

The design of the project originally looked completely different, but the controversial plans for a 17-story high-rise were rejected and the project was developed more broadly. This was made possible because the street Am 25er-Turm – which runs between the company’s existing buildings and a piece of land acquired for the project – was abandoned by the city and became part of the company’s premises. The design advisory board finally gave the green light for the revised plans in September 2022.

Green light for revised Dynatrace project
Dynatrace co-founder and head of technology Bernd Greifeneder emphasized today that before the company went public (which took place in 2019), it was difficult to attract international employees to Linz. Things are completely different now, Greifeneder sees a lot of potential in the location. Around 600 employees currently work in Linz, and with the expansion there will be around 1,500 on an area of 29,000 square meters.
Childcare with a mint focus
In the future, research, development and the promotion of young talent will be even more concentrated and practiced in the new campus. This is also reflected in the planned childcare facility, which will have a MINT focus.

Mayor Klaus Luger (SP) emphasized that Linz needs lighthouses like Dynatrace in order to be seen internationally; he is convinced that the project has a signal effect far beyond the Digital Mile and the harbor district.
The extension is being built by Neunteufel GmbH, and Dynatrace is the sole tenant. As managing director Johann Neunteufel put it, a “significant volume” is being invested; no offices are being created here, but rather new “working and living spaces”. The construction work should be completed by the end of 2025 and the premises should be ready for occupancy at the beginning of 2026. There is currently still an objection to the project, but this has no suspensive effect.

With a view to transport connections, planning councilor Dietmar Prammer (SP) referred to the planned trolleybus line 48, which is due to start operating in 2027. In the longer term, the regional light rail will also have a feeder function. Greifeneder noted that around 70 percent of employees do not come to work by car; many use bicycles. There is support from the company for this, as well as for the use of public transport. The project also includes a bicycle garage with over 300 parking spaces.
