The AUA announced this yesterday, Friday.
Von Hoensbroech had been at the helm of the Lufthansa subsidiary since August 2018. His contract would have run until 2026. The German is going to Canada with his family and will be the head of the Canadian airline WestJet. For competition reasons, he will leave the AUA with immediate effect, it says there.
His successor, Annette Mann, brings aviation experience to the Lufthansa Group. The 43-year-old is currently a member of the Swiss Aviation Foundation, on the Lufthansa CityLine supervisory board and is the chairwoman of the Help Alliance GmbH advisory board.
Compulsory vaccination on long journeys
In addition, the AUA announced yesterday that it would introduce compulsory corona vaccination for pilots and cabin crew on long-haul flights from January 1st. The reason is the Omikron variant, which leads to stricter entry requirements in many countries. Those who have recovered are exempt from the compulsory vaccination.
