In Linz it often happens that vehicles are parked where they actually have no business being. Sidewalks and cycle paths belong to pedestrians and cyclists.
The Linz Greens are now using a particularly blatant example as an opportunity to ask at the local council meeting on Thursday. This is Heindlstrasse in Urfahr, where the sidewalk has been blocked by parked cars for years, as club chairman Helge Langer points out. “This is done completely legally with the permission of the city and to the annoyance of residents.” Langer is now calling for “give the sidewalk, get rid of the parking lot.” Anything else is unacceptable.
There are also problems on Petzoldstrasse. However, cyclists suffer there because half of the cycle path is blocked by parked cars in sections.
But the Greens are not just concerned with this one extreme example. They actually want to know how many other such places there are in the Linz city area and where they are located. Above all, it is important to find out from the responsible deputy mayor, Martin Hajart (VP), what plans he has to eliminate these positions.
