After the traces of winter were removed, the cycling and hiking path along the eastern shore of Lake Hallstatt was reopened after the winter closure.
The hiking trail between the communities of Bad Goisern and Obertraun is around eight kilometers long and runs without any long or difficult climbs. In the area of the suspension bridge it also leads directly over the deepest part of Lake Hallstatt at 125 meters. The railway is ideal for getting back to the starting point of a hike on the east bank hiking trail. The Obertraun, Hallstatt and Obersee or Steeg train stops along the way serve as either the starting or finishing point of the easy and beautiful valley hike.
The eastern shore of Lake Hallstatt is also developed for cyclists and is very popular. With the opening of the hiking trail, the Hallstättersee cycle path will also be made available to bikers. It connects the communities of Hallstatt, Obertraun and Bad Goisern along the southern and eastern shores of Lake Hallstatt and is also the starting point of the Salzkammergut cycle path. By the way, the “Seecafe” in the Obertraun lido is already open.
