“There is a lot at stake,” said Chancellor Karl Nehammer (VP) at a joint press conference and called for people to make use of their right to vote.
According to Nehammer, the fight against “illegal migration” and the competitiveness of Europe as a location are currently his priority. “They elect the politicians who more or less shape our lives,” said Metsola, who belongs to the European People’s Party group. One of the reasons she travels to the member states is to provide information and prevent a possible shift to the right.
The right-wing parties are also intensifying their cooperation. EU mandate Harald Vilimsky (FP) is taking part in an event planned for Saturday in Rome by the EU parliamentary group “Identity and Democracy”, of which the FPÖ is also a member. Several European right-wing politicians from France, Portugal and Belgium, among others, are taking part in the “Winds of Change” event, to which the right-wing ruling party Lega led by Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini has invited.
