Being authentic, knowing about the Ausseerland and its traditions and showing perseverance – these are probably the most important qualities that the applicants for the office of future daffodil sovereignty should have. “And the most important thing when casting: just have fun and be open to new things”says Daffodil Princess Sophia Hellwig from Gmunden. “The jury notices immediately if the candidates are misrepresenting themselves. Above all, as your highness, you take on the office for a whole year. You just have to stay true to yourself”is the tip from Daffodil Queen Michaela Ertlschweiger.

The reigning daffodil sovereigns still represent the Ausseerland. But the search for their successors is already underway: young women between the ages of 18 and 30 can apply until April 28th – either online or by post. What is needed: a CV, two photos and a few lines about why you would be suitable as your Highness. Around 30 to 40 candidates will be invited to the casting on May 4th at Grundlsee, where they will face the verdict of a jury.
Exciting coronation evening
The three daffodil rulers have already been determined after the casting. However, who will become the queen will be decided by the audience on the coronation evening in Bad Aussee. “This will make the evening even more exciting and we are pleased that the local audience is also involved in the election”says Rudolf Grill, chairman of the Daffodil Festival Association.
