According to the investigation, a 25-year-old Austrian with Bosnian roots ordered fake vaccination cards from fraudsters in Bosnia in the summer of this year for his circle of friends, for a total of twelve people who live in the greater Linz or Steyr area. The police found out that the forged vaccination certificates were produced in Bugojno. To do this, the counterfeiters needed the personal data and social security numbers of the twelve unvaccinated customers. The 25-year-old paid a fee of ten to 15 euros for each Bosnian vaccination certificate.
In October he brought the forged passports to Traun and passed them on to his friends without asking for money. A buyer who had ordered several vaccination cards, however, sold them to two people for a total of 500 euros. As a result, five owners of the false documents turned up at a resident doctor in order to have the corona vaccination allegedly carried out in Bosnia entered in the EU vaccination passport. But the doctor noticed straight away that the batch numbers could not be correct. The police also found eight forged vaccination cards, and four more apparently made the suspects disappear.
