“In recent years, organizing the garrison ball has not been possible due to, among other things, the corona pandemic. After four years, we are all the more looking forward to the 53rd edition of this traditional event on April 27th”said Alfred Steingreß, commander of the Panzergrenadier Battalion 13 Ried, at a press conference on Thursday.
The 53rd edition of the Garrison Ball will take place in exhibition halls 18 and 19. Admission is at 7:30 p.m., the opening follows at 8:30 p.m.
“The new date is in April. Otherwise the ball always took place in January. This year the recruits will come to us at the beginning of April. Without their support, such a large event would not be possible”says Steingress and adds. “For me personally, the last garrison ball in 2020 was the best. We want to offer our guests a very special ambience again this year. I’m really looking forward to this ball evening.” The midnight performance comes from world-class artists “Jonglissimo”.
3000 visitors are expected
Around 200 soldiers and recruits from the Ried barracks guarantee that the ball night, which will last until 4 a.m., runs smoothly. “The preparations have been going on for a long time. We hope that many visitors will come”says Lieutenant Colonel Hannes Wagner.
There will be around 1200 seats. The organizers are counting on the first “Spring edition” one of the largest ball events in Upper Austria with at least 3000 visitors. After the four-year break, according to Steingreß, the plan is to hold the garrison ball annually again from now on.

Advance ticket sales for the Garrison Ball start on March 30th in the Weberzeile. Tickets can also be purchased in the Ried shopping center on April 6th, April 13th and April 20th. From April 8th, these will also be available to purchase from the barracks guard from Monday to Friday (from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.). A seated ticket costs 30 euros, a standing ticket costs 25 euros.
