Corona: Schoolchildren want Matura relief again

As in the past two school years, taking the oral school-leaving exam should only be voluntary, demanded federal school spokeswoman Susanna Öllinger to the APA. This concern was also raised during the inaugural meeting with the new Minister of Education Martin Polaschek (ÖVP). “This year’s final classes were overall the longest in distance learning, which is why the final class is currently not used to repeat and consolidate, but to catch up with the material,” argued the federal school spokeswoman. “For me, planning security and fairness are top priorities for all graduating classes. That is why we need to make it easier for the Matura 2022 to be announced this year.”

From today’s perspective, however, Polaschek has recently refused renewed relief. It is true that the grade of the final class should again be included in the Matura grade of the respective subject. However, the written and oral Matura should be carried out according to plan.
