2,167 new infections, also a decrease in hospitalizations

The seven-day incidence fell to 244.5 cases per 100,000 population. There was also a decrease in hospitalizations and deaths.

The highest number of new infections were in Lower Austria (416), followed by Vienna (391), Tyrol (334) and Upper Austria with 312. Styria reported 307 cases, Vorarlberg 229, Carinthia 113, Burgenland 44 and Salzburg 21. The federal state with the highest 7 -Day incidence is currently Vorarlberg with 455.4, followed by Tyrol, Carinthia and Upper Austria (321.3, 304.4 and 277.6, respectively). Lower Austria (227.8), Styria (213.9), Vienna (197.5), Salzburg (175.5) and Burgenland (143.6) follow.

As of Saturday there were 47,338 active cases in Austria, 3,851 fewer than the day before. There have been 1,247,399 confirmed cases in Austria since the start of the pandemic. 1,186,599 people have recovered, compared with 5,994 in the past 24 hours. 24 deaths are well below the seven-day average of 45.6. A total of 13,462 people have died from or with Covid-19 so far.

Decline in hospitalizations

There are currently 1,863 people in the hospital (minus 139). 496 of them were cared for in intensive care units. That number has decreased by 20 since yesterday and has decreased by 77 patients in a week.

117,180 vaccinations were carried out on Friday. 11,618 of these were first stitches, 24,522 second stitches and 81,040 third stitches. 6.199 219 people and thus 69.4 percent of Austrians have valid vaccination protection. The protection rate is highest in Burgenland at 74.7 percent. In Lower Austria 71.3 percent of the population have valid vaccination protection, in Styria 69.5 percent. After Vienna (68.5), Tyrol (68.2), Vorarlberg (66.3), Carinthia (66.1) and Salzburg (66.1), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 65.1 percent.
