It was news that many received with regret: If no new board is found at the club meeting at the end of January, FC Braunau is history, the Braunauer Warte reported exclusively. The current chairman Manfred Rothböck and his few helpers do not want to continue, there is a lack of supporters. The chances of finding committed officials in good time are rather poor.
Braunau’s VP Mayor Hannes Waidbacher was informed of the impending end in November. This refers to the work that FC Braunau is doing “especially in view of the difficulties identified by the board”. The association is an enrichment for the leisure and sports offer in Braunau, especially through its active and intensive youth work, said Waidbacher. A dissolution would be “very regrettable”.
Stadium also for athletics
He wants to wait for the general assembly at the end of January. The stadium remains. It is not only used for football, but also for athletics training by clubs and schools, emphasizes Waidbacher.
Next year, the municipality of Braunau estimated 10,000 euros for renovation measures, the mayor added. The Braunau stadium, the Ranshofen sports complex and the Laab sports complex are available to the three Braunau football clubs. “The financial expenditure of the municipality for these three sports facilities totaled 170,000 euros in 2020,” said Waidbacher. This does not include material and labor for maintenance.
The mayor resolutely clears up the rumor that apartments are to be built on the stadium’s site: this “has no basis,” he says.
FCB will maintain the syndicate with ATSV Ranshofen (Landesliga West) until the summer, but then the club could finally be dissolved. Solutions are also being sought for football players: in addition to ATSV Ranshofen, the Union St. Peter am Hart, with Braunau and Ranshofen in the offspring, could also form several syndicates that can accommodate some of the approximately 100 players currently playing in FCB.
