Two alcoholic drivers caused accidents in Ried

At around 7.15 p.m., a 39-year-old driver from the Ried district was on the Mehrnbacher Landesstraße in the direction of Ried im Innkreis when he turned right off the lane in the Aurolzmünster municipality and hit a garden wall and a concrete telephone pole head-on. Due to the force of the impact, parts of the garden wall and the concrete pole were thrown against the facade of a residential building and onto a parked car. The mast was torn from its base and came to rest across the roadway.

The 39-year-old driver was injured and brought to the Ried hospital with the rescue. An alcohol test showed a value of 1.78 per mille.

Police discovered accident by chance

A police patrol who happened to be passing by had to come to the aid of a 57-year-old shortly afterwards in the village of Freiling in Gurten. The man had been driving his car from Obernberg in the direction of Gurten. In Freiling he had left the road to the right and drove about 50 meters in the field before finally crashing into a tree. Unbelted, he hit his head on the windshield and injured himself indefinitely. The passing policemen finally discovered the casualty and took care of the further care of the man. An alcohol test carried out at the scene of the accident showed 1.62 per mille. The 57-year-old was also taken to the hospital in Ried.
