The Syrian beneficiary of subsidiary protection is said to have intentionally seriously injured the 25-year-old with a strong stab with a kitchen knife that was around 20 cm long after a previously deliberately provoked argument. The suspect confessed. According to the police, he was arrested and taken to the Linz prison.
Lost slippers while escaping
The attack is said to have been preceded by a verbal argument between two groups of people consisting primarily of Syrian asylum seekers. After a short argument, the suspect suddenly stabbed the victim and ran away. The 25-year-old Syrian, who apparently did not notice the stab at first, and his friends followed the attacker towards Bernaschekplatz, where he lost his slippers and fled in an unknown direction. The group around the victim continued to run towards Kreuzstrasse, where the victim finally collapsed, seriously injured.

After extensive investigations, the 17-year-old has now been identified as a suspect. During a voluntary inspection of the alleged perpetrator’s room, the jacket worn on the night of the crime was found. The knife could no longer be secured.
