Ryabkov declared the need for exclusively bilateral negotiations with the United States

Russia offered the United States to hold bilateral talks on security guarantees exclusively on a bilateral basis, stressing that the participation of other countries would make them meaningless. This was announced to TASS on Saturday, December 18, by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Ryabkov.

“We offer negotiations on a bilateral basis with the United States. If we involve other countries in them, we will simply drown it all in debate and verbiage, ”he said.

Earlier, on December 17, Ryabkov said that Russia had formed a team to negotiate with the United States on security guarantees. The diplomat called on his American colleagues to determine, in turn, their composition. According to Ryabkov, the Russian side has an understanding that this will be an interdepartmental format.

Also on Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry published draft agreements between Russia and the United States and NATO on security guarantees. As follows from the documents, in particular, the alliance should refuse to conduct any military activity on the territory of Ukraine and other states of Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia and Central Asia.

Also, Russia and NATO commit themselves not to create conditions that could be regarded as a threat by the other side.
