Holy Week will be windy and mild

Already at Monday Austria will temporarily come under intermediate high influence and milder air masses will be introduced. Particularly in the west and south, the day is often sunny and only a few clouds appear in the morning.

From Salzburg eastwards there are initially some remaining clouds with the last rain and snow showers. The snowfall limit is initially around 600 meters and rises to around 1,000 meters during the day. As the day progresses, the showers subside and the afternoon brings longer sunshine here too. The wind blows briskly in the north and east, and in the Vienna Woods it also blows strongly from the west. Early temperatures minus four to plus five degrees, daily maximum temperatures eight to 16 degrees.

Set above the Eastern Alpine region Tuesdays South foehn. North of the main Alpine ridge and in the east, the sun shines widely alongside a few thin cloud fields and it becomes very mild. In the southwest and south, however, dense clouds build up over the course of the day and it starts to rain here towards the evening. Both in some foehn zones on the north side of the Alps and on the eastern edge of the Alps, brisk to strong winds are blowing from the southeast to the south. Daily maximum temperatures of nine to foehn 19 degrees.

With southerly currents, the water builds up Midweek On the south side of the Alps there are clouds and it rains again and again, sometimes heavily during the day. At first it is even friendlier on the foehn-drenched north side of the Alps, with the sun shining at times, especially in the north and east. During the course of the day, however, the foehn collapses when a disturbance zone arrives from the west and the rains also spread to the north side of the Alps in the afternoon. It will only stay dry in the northeast until the evening. The snowfall limit drops to 1,000 to 1,500 meters in the west. In foehn areas and in the east there will be brisk to strong southeast to south winds. Early temperatures one to ten degrees, daily maximum temperatures eight to 20 degrees, with it being warmest in the foehn-filled northern Alpine foothills.

A fault zone is moving Thursday eastwards. From the Mühlviertel to Burgenland, dense clouds will initially prevail and there will be a few showers. Further west and southwest, the day starts with intermittent sunshine and just a few harmless clouds. From midday onwards, thicker clouds will gather here again and the tendency to showers will increase. Daily maximum temperatures of twelve to 18 degrees.

It builds again Fridays a southern, foehn-like current. With this, the clouds build up along and south of the main Alpine ridge, but rain only falls sporadically. Sunny weather prevails everywhere else, only high cloud fields can temporarily cloud the sunshine. The wind blows briskly to strongly from the southeast to the southwest on the eastern edge of the Alps and in the southeast in foehn waves. Daily maximum temperatures of 14 to 23 degrees.
