Amstetten district: Passers-by rescued a hypothermic man from the arm of the Danube

Because of the cold water, he was unable to get to shore himself. Passers-by who happened to pass by heard the victim’s cries for help, made an emergency call and pulled the man out of the water, a spokesman for Emergency Call Lower Austria reported.

The man was taken to hospital by emergency services with hypothermia. An emergency medical helicopter that was also alerted was able to return to its base.
