As the police reported on Monday, three people died at the scene of the accident. The cars crashed into each other head-on near Pöllau around 8:15 p.m. for reasons that are still unclear. The force pushed both vehicles several meters off the road into an adjacent field. Following vehicle drivers called the emergency number.
45 emergency services from the Pöllau fire department, 13 emergency services as well as an emergency doctor and the C17 rescue helicopter quickly arrived at the scene of the accident. However, for the three people involved in the accident, a couple (61 and 59 years old) from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district and a 17-year-old from the Weiz district, any help came too late. The relatives are cared for by a crisis intervention team.
