Fire brigade operation in Ottnang

Because the bus driver relied on his navigation system and overlooked a “dead end” traffic sign, a rail replacement bus from the Upper Austrian Transport Association got stuck on a dirt road in Ottnang on Monday evening. The volunteer fire department had to move out and rescued the bus together with the landowner and with the help of his tractor.

Vehicles could not fit through the railway underpass

“Many comrades were at our former fire department’s birthday party and were able to move out quickly,” says Johannes Niedermayr, spokesman for the Ottnang fire department. “The journey was difficult because our fire engines couldn’t drive through the local railway underpass. With the help of one of the landowner’s tractors, we were able to pull the bus onto a paved path. Due to the many uneven terrain, we had to use two built-in cable winches on our vehicles.”
