Five qualified health and nursing staff and one carer from the Linz Senior Center (SZL) offer a service close to home for people in need of care and their relatives in the Linz area. As the first point of contact for all questions relating to the health and care of seniors, the experts give lectures, advise, visit those in need of care at home and organize the support they need there.
The aim is to care for aging people at home for as long as possible and to delay hospitalization. With the help of nursing specialists, the aim is to improve care for those affected and relieve the burden on caring relatives.
Expansion of the offer
So far, the “Community Nurses” have worked in the districts of Dornach-Auhof, Franckviertel and Kleinmünchen/Auwiesen. The project has now been expanded: “The increased human resources of the community nurses make it possible to offer the service of preventive home visits across the board,” says Vice Mayor Karin Hörzing (SP) in a press release.
The Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences, which has been scientifically supporting the project since autumn 2022, examined the measures for their effectiveness. According to the university of applied sciences, the analyzes demonstrate improved care for clients and relief for relatives. Medical service providers would also benefit indirectly.
PLUS local councilor Renate Pühringer submitted the application to apply for the pilot project to the Linz local council in October 2021.
