Ski tourers hit by avalanche in Lungau

The snow board had come loose when the man from Styria skied down from the summit of the “Hühnerleitennock” over the northeast slope in open terrain. According to the police, the alpinist was dragged around 300 meters. He ended up lying on the surface of the avalanche cone and alerted the emergency services because of severe pain.

The ski tourer initially tried to descend into the valley on his own, but this was not possible due to his injuries. He was rescued by a police helicopter team and flown to the valley. The rescue took him to the Tamsweg state clinic.
