Ebenseer GmbH, a Rohrdorfer company, has built a new photovoltaic (PV) system at its factory in Vorchdorf. It covers around 2,500 square meters of roof space and has a peak output of almost 490 kilowatts. The location produces up to 45 percent of its electricity requirements itself. Ebenseer GmbH produces paving stones, terrace slabs, modern design elements as well as wall and boundary systems made of concrete. In total, Ebenseer employs around 45 people and supplies customers in Tyrol, the Salzburger Land and Upper Austria.
The available hall roof space totaling 3,000 square meters was used to the best possible extent. In order to take full advantage of the 2024 season, the winter months were used for construction, making the installation work challenging. Solar power production is scheduled to start these days. The size of the system is chosen so that as much of the electricity produced as possible can be used. Excess electricity produced on weekends is fed into the public grid. Rohrdorfer not only invested in the PV system, but has also gradually modernized the production systems and electronics over the past two years.
“Thanks to the high level of in-house power supply and the factory modernization, the climate footprint of the products produced in Vorchdorf has been significantly improved,” says Alen Avdibegovic, technical manager of the Rohrdorf concrete products division. “Our photovoltaic system is a milestone on our path to CO2 neutrality, which our group aims to achieve by 2038 at the latest.”
