On Good Friday at 7:48 a.m., the Lacken volunteer fire department went out to rescue a poultry transporter. The truck got onto the shoulder and into the side ditch on the B132, Mühllackener Straße, and the vehicle’s trailer overturned. “We will set up the trailer with the crane truck and load the boxes with the chickens onto another truck,” says Commander Daniel Schürz.
There would usually be around 9,000 chickens in crates in such a poultry transporter, says the fireman. These boxes were largely intact in the accident. “If there are ten chickens running around, there are a lot of them,” says Schürz.
The B132 – the connecting road between Lacken and Feldkirchen – was closed for several hours on Friday morning while the clean-up work took place.
