The elected president stressed that “the call of (José Antonio) Kast speaks very well of Chile”, alluding to the recognition of the result made by his competitor at the polls.
“History has taught us that when we walk the paths of peace and reconciliation, Chileans do well; when we divide, no; we all hope that it has a very good government for Chile and for Chileans; it will count on our collaborative position, “said Piñera.
Boric replied then that “the agreements have to be with the Chilean men and women, not only between leaders,” and remarked that he will be “the president of all Chileans.”
Later, the president invited his successor to a “work meeting” and recommended that he “make good use of this time” because “governing is very difficult.”
“Let’s hope we do better,” the left-wing president-elect replied to his center-right predecessor, as seen in the video call, broadcast on Chile’s National Television.
