After joining in October 2020, as briefly reported, AMAG is now acquiring the remaining 30 percent of the German Aircraft Philipp, based in Übersee am Chiemsee and employing 215 people – and will thus become the sole owner from the turn of the year. With the complete takeover, the company name will also change to AMAG components in the future.
This name stands for the expansion of AMAG’s product portfolio to include components and ready-to-install parts made of aluminum and titanium for the international aerospace industry. The combination of the foundry including the rolling mill in Braunau-Ranshofen with the mechanical production at the future AMAG components location in Germany paired with AMAG’s already high recycling competence is unique worldwide.
This should also close material cycles. The chips and cuttings from mechanical processing are recycled in Ranshofen – this reduces the CO2 footprint in the aviation industry.
“We are convinced of the medium-term recovery of the aviation industry and our unique positioning. As the only producer of aluminum rolled products, we now offer our customers in the aviation industry ready-to-install components from a single source”, says Gerald Mayer, CEO of AMAG Austria Metall AG. With the completed takeover, AMAG is consistently continuing its strategic path with innovative special products.
“We contribute to minimizing the CO2 footprint in the aviation industry by recycling and thus closing material cycles as well as the increased use of green energy.” Products from the now fully acquired company are used in passenger, business travel, military, transport and cargo aircraft as well as in helicopters and space travel.
