The two Czechs climbed the Seewand via ferrata on Friday. The 19-year-old and the 22-year-old were equipped with sports shoes, via ferrata equipment, a harness and a helmet. They reached the end of the via ferrata around 1:45 p.m.
Because there is currently a thick blanket of snow on the Krippenstein, the way back to the cable car is difficult to manage without snowshoes. However, the climbers only wore sneakers and couldn’t find the way without orientation aids. They therefore made an emergency call at around 3:45 p.m.

The Obertraun mountain rescue center and employees of the Krippenstein cable car went looking for the two. A cable car attendant, who was traveling with a skidoo, discovered the young men near the Gjaidalm. He first took them to the Gjaidalm, where they warmed up, and finally to the cable car, which took them down to the valley uninjured.
