An example of successful collaboration is the food cluster’s “SauWohl” project: the animal welfare of pigs is promoted using herbal extracts. The effect of a fermented herbal extract in the feed is being investigated, which contains not only herbs but also lactobacilli and yeasts. This is intended to reduce diarrhea, respiratory problems and tail biting.
