The fire brigade, rescue and police were on duty at around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday after an accident in the municipality of Altmünster: a drunk 19-year-old had lost control of his car while driving on the Großalm Landesstraße.
Fell into stream bed
At the level of the Pfannstieleck intersection he veered off the road to the right, crashed into a bridge railing and slid along the embankment of the Ebenbach. 20 meters further on, the car hit the guard rail, rolled over and ended up lying on its roof in the stream bed.

The emergency services from the Altmünster and Traunkirchen fire departments were alerted to rescue people. When they arrived at the scene of the accident, the 19-year-old was already being treated by Red Cross paramedics. He sustained injuries so severe that he had to be taken to hospital.
More than 2 per mille
An alcohol test was positive, according to police on Sunday afternoon. The young man had more than 2 per mille. The badly damaged car had to be rescued by the fire department. The Altmünster fire department said the Großalm Landesstraße was closed for the duration of the clean-up work, which took several hours.
