The switch to standard time (CET) takes place on the last weekend in October. What will happen next with the abolition of the time change in the EU – which has been decided in and of itself – is still unclear. The ball is still in the court of the EU Council of Ministers; the transport ministers are responsible.
In March 2019, the European Parliament voted with a large majority to abolish summer time by 2021 – or a year later if there were difficulties for the internal market. However, the majority of member states still have to agree to this for this to become reality. As things stand now, it is not to be expected that the current Belgian Council Presidency plans to put the issue up for debate again, according to EU circles.
