The tragic accident occurred on Sunday around 2:30 p.m.: A dark car hit an 86-year-old pedestrian on the B3 in Luftenberg (Perg district). The woman from St. Georgen an der Gusen wanted to cross the B3 with her husband near the Abwinden Danube power plant. The woman was thrown through the air and remained lying in the intersection area. Any help came too late for her.

The driver continued towards Linz. After intensive investigations based on traces at the scene of the accident, the fugitive driver was located. At 6:45 p.m. he was arrested at home in the Perg district, but the Mühlviertler has since been released.
The 28-year-old confessed and an alcohol test was negative, the police reported. The car damaged in the accident was confiscated. The results of a drug test were still pending on Monday morning.
