Real collection grew by 5.1% year-on-year and anticipates an improvement in activity

The actual tax collection It grew by 5.1% year-on-year during February and continues to recover in the first two months of the year, after discounting the inflationary effect to the gross total, which reached 49,929 million pesos, implying a variation of 10.1%.

In this sense, the net collectionfrom which the tax refund is deducted, reached 43,859 million pesos, presenting an interannual variation in real terms of 5.9%, according to data from the General Tax Directorate (DGI).

In the last 12 months, the total collection showed positive and negative interannual variations, however, the accumulated end-to-end shows a negative variation of 0.7%. In the first two months of the year, the real variation compared to the same period in 2023 was 3.3%.

He economist Ignacio Umpiérrez assured through his X account (formerly Twitter) that the bimonthly improvement “anticipates a good performance in the activity for the first quarter of the year,” and that the end of some negative shocks that persisted in 2023″. However, he stressed that the first quarter “will still be affected” by the technical stoppage of the La Teja refinery of Ancap and the Tourism Week.

For his part, he also economist Aldo Lema expressed through the same social network that this growth in the tax collection was “foreseeable”, although it was “somewhat favored by the calendar effect of more business days and the leap year.”

Real collection by Imesi shot up 10.6%

In consumption taxes, the royal collection by the Specific Internal Tax (Imesi), which shot up 10.6% year-on-year to 4,745 million pesos. In turn, for the Value Added Tax (VAT) 23,580 million pesos were collected, meaning a real interannual variation of 5.3%.

On the other hand, with regard to income taxes, collection for the Income Tax from Economic Activities (IRAE) had a real interannual variation of 0.8% to 6,054 million pesos; while that of the Personal Income Tax (Personal income tax) rose 10.0% to 9,729 million pesos.
