Höller celebrates a tailor-made start to the season with a podium

Alois Höller scored important points at the start of the season.

The international championship began with the run in Mariapocs, Hungary, on the Easter weekend. The record champions were particularly pleased with the end result.

In the first heats on Sunday, Höller only crossed the line in seventh fastest place, which left the Ford Fiesta driver somewhat perplexed: “We simply didn’t have the speed of our opponents, and fourth gear broke during the second heat. We had to do a night shift to repair the gearbox,” says the Mühlviertler about a difficult first day. Similar to the flora around the racetrack, the record champions also bloomed on the all-important Monday. In the third heat, the otherwise uncompromising Höller spared his opponent Csaba Vass and his Audi: “I consciously withdrew.” In the semifinals, Höller showed his best performance of the weekend to date and moved into the grand finale in second place. The Rubble Master driver got off to an excellent start, moving from the outside lane to third place – he didn’t give up that position until the end. “That was really a great success,” said Höller.
