2.9 million euros for tree offensive and park renovations in Linz

In the 2024/25 double budget, 2.9 million euros are earmarked for investments in the urban green business area. The lion’s share of this goes to the Linz tree offensive, amounting to 900,000 euros per year. The current focus is on the Neustadviertel, where 30 trees will be planted in the first phase. A special modular system was developed there. The tree islands are divided into three parts on the surface: a deep bed for water purification, a green tree disc in the middle and an unbound paved multifunctional area. After the Neustadtviertel, it’s the turn of the area around the Sacred Heart Church.

Focus on Schillerpark and Volksgarten

500,000 euros are available this year and 400,000 euros next year for renovations and refreshments of parks. One focus is the Schiller Park. The paths were already renovated last year, and after the marathon the lawn renovation will now begin. The benches in the park will be replaced with new ones and the coverings on the long benches along the tram stop will be replaced. A drinking fountain should be installed by summer.

The lawn in the Volksgarten will also be renewed, and the transition to the country road will also be made more attractive. An external company, which is also financed by the market department, is responsible for repairing the damage caused by the Christmas market. Paths are being renovated in the City Park and Donaupark, beds are being relined and planted in the Hessen Park, and busy paved areas are being renovated.

In 2024, 210,000 euros will flow into the general renovation of 3,600 square meters of path surface, including the Hessen and City Park, the Old Field Path in Urfahr and Muldenstrasse in the south.
