Why we shouldn’t give fear too much space in life
Thomas Müller: criminal psychologist, profiler, author

The last dangerous saber-toothed tiger, which jumps out of the bushes and tears our lives out of existence within seconds, died thousands of years ago, and yet – never before in the development of humanity has there been as much fear as there is today: fear of stopping work fear of losing money, social status, friends online, recognition, losing oneself, but also fear of artificial intelligence or a third world war.

Criminal psychologist Thomas Müller at the OÖN Business Academy explains why this is the case and why we should not be afraid of fear. This will take place on Thursday, April 11th, in the Brucknerhaus in Linz. Starts at 6:30 p.m.

Müller became known to the general public through his profiling work in solving spectacular criminal cases. His focus is operational case analysis and the evaluation of crime scene information. Müller helps reconstruct the sequence of events and the underlying motives.

“Pulling out the poisonous fangs”

Fears are not in themselves a bad thing, he says. If we weren’t afraid, we would hardly make it through everyday life in one piece. However, fear must not take over us and we must not allow ourselves to be controlled by it. Müller, who is also known as a book author, explains how one manages to give space to the necessary fear and to “pull out the poisonous teeth” of the unnecessary one.
