On December 20, the Netherlands began to announce charges in the case of the Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777, which crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. During the hearing, an important witness was also dismissed, whose testimony differs from the opinion of the prosecution. REN TV reports about it on December 20.
“The Dutch court rejected the defense request in the MH17 case to provide documents about a witness who stated that the plane could not have been shot down by the Buk air defense missile system,” said Judge Hendrik Steinheis.
Thus, only one version is considered “proven”, and as a result of the hearing, the names of three Russians and one Ukrainian, who were found allegedly guilty of the incident, were also announced.

The case of the passenger plane crash was investigated by a joint investigation team led by the Dutch prosecutor’s office without the participation of Russia. Moscow was not allowed to investigate.
In June 2021, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the United States is withholding facts of colossal importance in the case of the MH17 crash. According to him, the United States categorically refuses to provide satellite images taken in July 2014, when the disaster struck.
In November 2020, a court in the Netherlands rejected requests from the defense of the accused to investigate alternative versions of the Boeing crash.
On February 3, 2020, four persons involved in the case of flight MH17 were charged. In the same month, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation announced that the impressive amount of data transferred to the Netherlands on the MH17 case was ignored by the investigation team, which indicates a prejudiced attitude towards Russia. The representatives of the department noted that the refusal of the Netherlands to transfer the materials cannot be appealed.
