Colorful flower balls, hearts and balloons for downtown Wels

The new decoration was mounted on 800 linear meters of steel cable.

Just in time for the start of the “Blooming Austria” trade fair, eww employees assembled the spring and summer decorations in Schmidt- and Bäckergasse yesterday. This year, flower balls with wildflowers and herbs as well as hearts decorate the Wels pedestrian zone at a lofty height. The up-and-coming Pfarrgasse-Süd shopping street is also decorated for the first time this year. Colorful balloons and hearts in different colors hang there.

The artificial flowers and decorative elements come from the Innsbruck company MK Illumination, with which city marketing has been working for five years. The pedestrian zone was decorated for the first time in the Corona year 2020 to create a positive atmosphere. Renting the decoration and assembly costs the city around 30,000 euros. “With the decoration we increase the quality of stay and strengthen the feel-good factor,” says Mayor Andreas Rabl (FP).

At the start of the warm season, the city gardening plant planted around 75,000 spring bloomers. “The changing pile is an enormous amount of work, I would like to thank the employees for their commitment,” says FP Vice Mayor Christa Raggl-Mühlberger. A little more patience is required in the castle garden, where the eastern part is currently being redesigned. The work will be completed by the start of the Burggarten concerts in June.
