Guaidó celebrates the British ruling for the gold of Venezuela: They will not be able to loot it

“The gold in international reserves will continue to be protected in the Bank of England,” Guaidó said in a statement on the Twitter network. “The dictatorship will not be able to loot it” the government of Maduro, added the leader, recognized as president in charge of Venezuela since 2019 by fifty countries – including the United Kingdom -, although without being able to displace Maduro from power.

The British Supreme Court ruled in favor of an appeal by Guaidó’s team, which distances the Maduro administration from the 31 tons of gold – equivalent to about $ 1 billion – to which it is requesting access.

It ruled that the British courts cannot contradict the Executive, which recognizes Guaidó, and returned the case to the Commercial Court.

“It remains to be seen if the rulings issued by the Supreme Court of Venezuela can be recognized here,” said the highest British court.

Both parties have designated directives of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), but the Supreme Court of Justice of the Caribbean country (TSJ) declared the ad-hoc board appointed by Guaidó “irrita”.

“We will undertake with dedication the next phase of the trial to prove the illegality of the decisions made by the Supreme Court of Maduro against the Ad-Hoc board of the BCV and achieve their ignorance by the United Kingdom courts,” said the statement of the opposition leader.

“We will continue to be dedicated to exercising our constitutional duty to protect the assets of the Republic and promote free and fair presidential elections in Venezuela,” he added.
