Another traditional shop is disappearing from the Linz cityscape. “It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that we are closing our business,” the company said on social media on Friday. Vouchers and merchandise credits can still be redeemed until the end of June.

Long company history

In 1962, Theo Estermann had the Landa department store built on Landstrasse. You worked in wholesale and retail and were an institution. At its best, Landa employed 200 people.

The roots of how Landa and Estermann came together go back to the 19th century. The founding Landa family had no successor, and so a scion of the Estermann family, who was already a partner at the time, came into play. Landa has belonged to the Estermann family for more than 100 years. In 1945, Theodor Estermann, who had returned home from military service as an Air Force pilot, joined Landa.
