Sandra Wöss from the Red Cross local office in Aigen is not only working with full energy in the rescue service. In winter she worked as a pusher in a two-man bobsleigh World Cup race in Switzerland.
Sandra competed in the World Cup in the natural ice rink in glamorous St. Moritz in Lower Austria’s Katrin Beierl’s bobsleigh. She came to this through a casting and subsequent training over the summer. The “co-driver’s” job is to provide the appropriate boost at the beginning and to brake after the finish line. “It was a cool experience, but it remains a unique experience,” says the 21-year-old about her experience in top-class sport. “But it’s more strenuous than pushing a patient in a chair to the rescue,” says the woman from Schindlauer with a wink, who has also been involved in the national fistball team. She has been wearing the “matching jacket” since the summer of 2022, mostly as a volunteer in Aigen-Schlägl, soon as a holiday replacement in Rohrbach. “When I have time, I like to do duty. The cohesion at the local office and the reactions of the patients are my motivation to do the service. If you’re interested, it’s best to do a trial service,” Sandra invites those interested to get involved in the Red Cross.
