The free market strives for households in favorable locations. The fast internet access in rural areas in the more remote villages, however, requires tuition from the public purse. This should now be done in the Enns-Donau-Winkel: The mayors Suchan-Mayr (SP), Karl Huber (VP) and Rudolf Divinzenz (VP) have Sankt Valentin, Ernsthofen and Sankt Pantaleon-Erla with Lower Austria for their communities. Glass fiber infrastructure company (nöGIG) concluded a framework agreement, according to which the national company will invest in fiber optic expansion in the areas. The prerequisite for this is that at least 42 percent of households are willing to participate in the program and order an Internet connection.
“The joint approach has a lot of advantages,” says Suchan-Mayr, who also sits in the state parliament. If the required minimum quota of households agrees, a large area of the Enns-Donau-Winkel will be connected to the worldwide data traffic. “We will start an information campaign right after the holidays,” announce Huber and Divinzenz. In St. Valentin, the town hall goes out into the villages with its information campaign: Tuesday, December 28, there will be an information evening in the Thurnsdorf district, Hotel Post at 6.30 p.m., as well as other meetings on Wednesday, December 29, at 6 p.m. In the Gasthof Stolli in Rems and on Tuesday, January 4th, at 6.30 pm in the restaurant “Am Teich” in Altenhofen.
