Syrian military and residents block the path of a US military convoy

The Syrian military and local residents blocked the path of a US military convoy in the Al-Hasakah province in northeastern Syria. This was reported on December 20 by the country’s state news agency Sana, citing local sources.

According to them, residents of the village of Tel al-Dahab, with the help of the Syrian military at the checkpoint, did not allow five US armored vehicles to enter the village, forcing them to turn around. It is noted that residents threw stones at the American column.

This is not the first time that Syrians have reacted negatively to the presence of the US military. So, on March 9, 2020, it was reported that residents of the village of Al-Quzliya in the same province did not allow an American convoy of seven armored vehicles to enter the village, threw stones at it and forced it to retreat.

In some conflicts, the Russian military police even had to intervene. So, in February 2020, the Americans opened fire on residents in the vicinity of the city of Qamishli in eastern Syria, as a result of which a teenager died. Local residents threw stones at the soldiers; only representatives of the Russian Federation were able to resolve the situation.

The armed conflict in Syria has been going on since 2011. The United States, under the pretext of fighting terrorists, invaded the country without the permission of the authorities and the UN.
