Murder trial against Bierwirt: “Had a film tear”

Shocking scenes took place this year at the end of April in a community building in Vienna-Brigittenau. Because his girlfriend (35) had ended the relationship after 15 years, a 43-year-old Viennese craft beer dealer – since a legal dispute with the Green Club chairwoman Sigrid Maurer, the man is also known in the media as a beer host – appeared in his ex-partner’s apartment on. According to the indictment of the 35-year-old, the Viennese shot a pistol first in the thigh and then in the head. Witnesses had to see that because the victim had just had a visit from a neighbor and his 13-year-old daughter. In addition, the defendant’s three-year-old son was also in the apartment.

Because of his massive alcohol and drug intoxication, he only came to after the crime in the hospital, the beer innkeeper claimed in the jury hearing yesterday. “I had a tear in the film. I didn’t know what I was doing,” he replied several times when the Senate asked whether he had committed the bloody deed consciously and deliberately. “So don’t confess,” said the associate judge, summing up the defendant’s responsibility.

Already in the morning he had drunk a bottle of vodka and also consumed psychotropic drugs, according to the accused, who is represented by three lawyers, including the well-known defense attorney Rudolf Mayr. At the time of the arrest, the beer host had more than 3.5 per thousand alcohol in his blood, and stimulants and sedatives were also found.

After the fact the schnapps was emptied

However, he is said to have drunk most of the alcohol after the shooting. One expert assumes that there will be an “aftertaste” after the fact. In addition, witnesses say that the defendant appeared only slightly impaired before the crime.

Immediately after the shooting, the 43-year-old asked the neighbors to disappear and take the children with them. He didn’t have to be told twice, ran into his apartment and locked the door. But the beer keeper followed him, rang the bell and shouted for alcohol. The frightened neighbor handed him a bottle of rum and a bottle of vodka from a window. With that, the defendant sat on a bench outside and emptied the bottles until the police arrested him.

Before the act father threatened

Six days before the murder, the defendant threatened the father of his girlfriend with a pistol and fired a shot in the door frame. He regrets not having filed a complaint, said the father of the woman who was shot. He stated that his daughter had also been beaten several times by the beer keeper. The defendant alleged that he did not threaten his wife’s father but wanted to shoot himself. “But you didn’t do what you intended to do,” replied the presiding judge. “Unfortunately not,” said the defendant.

The 43-year-old faces ten to 20 years or life imprisonment. In addition, the prosecution has applied for him to be sent to an institution for mentally abnormal lawbreakers. The process will continue tomorrow.
