Hargassner: Praise, congratulations and an award for your 40th birthday

It was a promise that Anton Hargassner Sr. gave his wife Elisabeth 40 years ago: He would build her a stove that she would never have to use again. Because the new house was supposed to have a wood stove, not an oil stove that was so modern at the time. It was a surprise, said Elisabeth Hargassner, laughing as she remembered the beginnings of the now internationally successful Hargassner company from Weng. At the anniversary event of the family business, which is celebrating 40 years of existence this year, memories were reminisced.

The program was cheerfully led by ski jumping legend Andreas Goldberger, who is closely linked to the company that, among other things, sponsors the Austrian ski jump. Anton Hargassner Sr. told how his oven became more and more famous and how the excavator contractor at the time registered his first patent. His brother Josef was his first employee, his wife Elisabeth took care of the bureaucratic side of things, and Anton, who is known as “Daniel Jet Gear,” tinkered with the ovens.

One person who immediately recognized what an innovation these ovens were was Karl “Charlie” Wimmer from what is now Haustechnik Wimmer. It was he who installed the first oven. In the house of the Schaller couple, who then often received interested guests.

This laid the foundation for the success story. Today the company employs 1,250 people and serves 185,000 customers worldwide. Anton and Elisabeth handed their company over to their two sons, Markus and Anton Hargassner Jr., who run it today. And the company continues to grow: a wooden parking garage that is unique in Europe is currently nearing completion, and the new, 32,000 square meter service center only needs the final touches. “We won’t run out of visions,” promised Markus Hargassner, because that’s exactly what the brothers had been shown by their parents, he emphasized. Hargassner also entered the heat pump business.

In addition to district governor Gerald Kronberger, former state councilor Josef Fill, Weng mayor Gerhard Wiesner and former state parliament member Franz Weinberger, state governor Thomas Stelzer also traveled to Weng to congratulate the Hargassner family on their success.

“The Innviertel is a stronghold of the Upper Austrian economy, and the Hargassner company makes a significant contribution to this,” attested the state governor. He praised the family and thanked the family for its commitment to the region. As a “birthday present” he brought the Golden Medal of Merit of the State of Upper Austria for the Hargassner couple. There was long applause not only from the guests of honor who had traveled, but also from the numerous employees who were present at the ceremony.
