The areas most affected are the main ridge region between the rear Ötztal and the rear Tuxertal. Up to 20 centimeters are expected in valleys, and up to 40 centimeters in higher valleys – including the Brenner region, the Ötztal and the Tux valley head. The amount of precipitation is significantly lower towards the north. In addition, avalanche warning level three was issued on the five-point scale, meaning there was “significant danger”.

State Security Councilor Astrid Mair (ÖVP) and Elmar Rizzoli, head of the Tyrolean Center for Crisis and Disaster Management, appealed to the population to take the warning seriously. In addition, reference was made to the winter tire requirement, which still applies until April 15th.
